We might see one or two as a propaganda stunt, other than that, not untill the time (if it ever comes) that we have a sizable population living and working in space.

It takes many years to train an astronaut. There is no point in spending millions to send inexperienced kids with no scientific background. It would just be a PR stunt with no real value. There are a limited number of seats, so space agencies want to make sure that they send the best of the best.

Plus, there are legal liability issues. It's a dangerous activity that needs legal consent, which is problematic if you're a minor.

If you want to be an astronaut, you will be better off working at being the best at everything in school. Get a PhD or other high-level degree in physics or biology or join the armed forces to become a pilot, or both.

We'll likely see the first teenager in space in 2014, riding a suborbital Virgin Galactic flight as a tourist. The same will probably happen once tourists can buy a ticket on orbital flights for a 'reasonable' cost.

It'll probably be the son or daughter of some billionaire who's bought a family ticket with Virgin Galactic. But as others have said, rockets are too expensive for any of the major space agencies being able to justify sending up an inexperienced teenager in the place of a scientist at the top of their field.

I have to admit that I if I were a parent I should be afraid to send children into space.

History shows us that whenever we begin to treat the space flight as something routine, something tragic happens, Apollo 13, Challanger.

Sometimes we forget that space is the most dangerous environment in which man has ever lived.

PS dose anybody remember that movie:D

Eventually, some time in the future, there are going to be millions of people off of the Earth, and some of them are going to be minors. As space travel gets safer and cheaper, the restrictions on who gets to go to space will lax significantly. The dream is a surface-to-orbit experience slightly rougher than a modern plane journey, something most people, including teenagers and smaller children, can definitely survive.
