Hey guys and gals!

New to the whole KSP scene, got the demo version a few days ago, built a few rockets and successfully got in a stable orbit, landed back down on Kerbal safely (it was a splashdown not controlled descent), then proceeded to watch a few vids of a guy (he's prob on here) building a base on the Mun, though that was pretty cool so I bought the full version earlier today, whats the story with the career mode? I couldn't get into it so just started a new game in sandbox mode just messing about for the mo but plan on building a moon base and maybe even one on Duna or Eve (which is better?).

Thinking of starting up a blog so I can document my progress!

I got one problem though, the main charger lead for my laptop broke earlier this year to I use a multicharger thingy I got in Argos but it doesn't seem to charge the laptop quick enough when I run KSP as it turns itself off in the middle of gameplay! Any advice? Would I be best off upgrading my laptop (was gonna buy a new one soon anyway)?

Hello and welcome!

The "Career Mode" button is a placeholder - a promise that that there will BE a career mode when development has gone a great deal further. At the moment the devs are still creating the hidden, underlying code needed to implement the actual career mode.

Not that I'm complaining, the sandbox is keeping me busy enough!

Take care, have fun!

Richard.

Keep in mind that KSP is still in alpha, so it's very unfinished. Saying that it's still got tonnes and tonnes of content to play around with and the almost endless configurations of ccrafts, landers, rovers, walking robots, you can make really does begger belief.

Browsing these forums is a great way to find new things to try or build or both and you will have to create you own 'career mode' for now. I just set myself challenges. So, first off, get to the mun.

This first one was quickly revised to, Get to orbit, after multiple failed attempts. This game is quite hard to begin with but so rewarding when you get stuff right. Then I wanted to go to Eve,

DFC6B5B9BB80ED73D61FAE71D351FF6E9A1741DB

then get a rover on the Mun,

Got there in the end though,

B8A9FF9B8EA5CC6D19813F5D6A452D187E265ADF

then to Laythe,

then a mun base etc...

Keep setting yourself challenges and then try to work it all out.

Currently I'm trying to build a craft that will enable me to visit Jool and land on EACH OF IT'S MOONS!

This one is seems to be quite difficult and will require some kind of docking of multiple parts in orbit...

Anyway, if you get bored with all the things you can think up then there's always the mods to have a look at, like searching and then mining for kethane to use as fuel, mapping the system to find Easter eggs and hidden surprises using the MapSat mod, more realistic conditions can be added so you'll need to fly with oxygen and deal with re-entry forces and heat, tonnes of new parts and so much more...

The Spaceport is a goldmine of fun, interesting, challenging, realistic and sci-fi stuff. This game really is as rewarding and large as your imagination. once the game enters beta and eventually a full release it's going to be even better. I would marry KSP.

Have fun and happy flying.

Bit the bullet today and bought a new laptop, can't wait for it to arrive so I can install KSP on it and give it a go!

I have a few goals in mind for it already, was able to achieve a fairly good orbit in the demo but use up a lot of fuel to get there, I want go to to the Mun first and maybe set up a small space station there and a refuelling depot/space station in orbit around Kerbin with a view to going to Duna and maybe even Eve at some point!
