[PART TWO ONLINE] Kerbol Station (Docking in interplanetary orbit)

So, after the Kerbals established a space station orbiting their planet, landed on mün and drove around on the giant ice lakes of minimus, they decided that it is time to move on.

The first step would be to establish a station from wich it would be easy to fly to other planets.

What should I do next? Fly a mission from the station to duna or any other planet? Bring the station back and build a proper one? YOU DECIDE!

Put a set of stations in orbit between Kerbin and Duna- that way, ships going between the two can top-up on the way back to Kerbin!

Good idea, but I think it would be very difficult to find good transfer windows. So in the end it would take very long to go to duna and back.

btw: The ship that docked to the station is on its way to duna. It will orbit it a few times to gather some scientific information and then return to the station.

Question: How do you plan to keep the station in a useful position over the long term?

I'm confused and can't help but think that "interplanetary orbit" is a huge contradiction... what is it exactly?

Sounds like plain "orbit" to me..

The station isn't that much faster than Kerbin so the transfer windows are very long. I just flew a mission (the report is coming this evening) that took about one and a half years and it's still quite easy to get to the station .But while the station is far away there is no fuelefficent way to get to the station.

Well the station is orbiting the sun instead of a planet. That makes it quite difficult to rendezvous with it.

Nice station. If you have any more docking ports. You could make the station bigger. That station will be really good when 0.22 comes out with the science thing so I would try building it up more.

It isn't really supposed to be a station. I'll build a proper one. The thing I launched was just a test and has already been deorbited.

Hi Guys!

So, after sucessfully docking in Sun orbit for the first time the Kerbals decided to go one step further and visit an other planet.

However due to budget cuts there wasn't enough money to launch a special mission for that and the KSC decided to send the three brave Kerbals living on the Kerbolstation on the biggest adventure of their live time. Let's go to duna!

That was the closest mission (fuel-wise) that I've ever done... puh... I'm quite happy that it all worked out good.

Do you guys have an idea how to present my missions more "sexy"? Post them in the thread!

Awesome part two. what I would like to know how much fuel is still in the station. And if there is a lot. You could send a ship with docking ports on it and turn it into a refueling station and part interplanetry transport sence it is very fast in sun orbit it could be used to head to duna or any other planet in the system well almost all.
