That second one is like a self-mobile power node. O_O

it's both :P Ion engines take a LOT of power. and I wanted to to be some what symmetrical and well OCD (18 xl panels and 2 2x4's) and well "if it's worth doing it's worth overdoing".

oh and I have an idea for a small tug

EDIT: Chrischambers' save file is unavailable to me since dropbox is being problematic for me ATM. Soon as I can get it, I'll report in that the docking arm launch is go.

Ok, it looks like we've hit a small snag, with two people trying to go at once. Capt., since you have issues getting the file, let's wait for Brody, and then see if the station is still within the capacity of what your system can handle.

Brody, just a reminder, the part limit's at 50-60, the lower the better. Not everyone has a DL980G7 sitting at home. (If someone does... yikes)

We already have the AMMES and modified Guppy Orbiters that serve as tugs of a sort, as well as crew rescue/rotation craft.

We still have some room, and we have two major things not on the list:

1. Lab module (to be added when .22 comes out)

2. An engine module for the actual orbit change, and for station keeping. A tractor/Goddard style would work best for a station this size, since it puts less stress on the docking ports. (This will be last.)

Also, if you have a hefty machine, we will need a pilot to place us into the final parking orbit of 10.5 trillion meters.

so could you use the fighter?

Might prove useful in repelling rogue asteroids or derelict vessels. I would advise that you may have to reduce the part count, and you may need to send it with a custom dock that has extra xenon stores, as the station does not supply that.

Got it, I can wait. Also, the Guppies are meant for crew rotation, though they may end up being useless once out in interplanetary space. Perhaps a further modified version with more fuel and a NERVA is in order (If I go again, I'll take the liberty of switching them out). Also, I use Dynamic Warp to slow the game clock down to 1/2 speed, which makes things run slow but without framerate loss. I highly advise everyone to try it out as it really helps with the FPS loss.

that can be arranged though would the stores and craft have to fit in the same part limit or could that be separate ? ( would the fuel and craft count as separate modules) I could also volunteer as the pilot person if no one else offers and I'm guessing no mods right?

I'd have to say they share the part limit. The number of parts is getting pretty high, and it's slowing the game down for almost everyone.

It is no mods, and when the time comes, we'll select a pilot among the volunteers.

Just popped in to say how much I'm enjoying the station take shape.

Also, I can't find it at the moment, but someone posted a wicked little EVA device for extended activity outside the station. I would humbly suggest that one of these might go quite well (I can't find the damned thread it was on, sorry).

No, I'm not building it, I'd break your station. :)

So after Brody gets the power node up, and Cpt. Sierra gets the docking node attached, I launch and dock my rescue ship, da?

Da. If you have the room in the part limit, some xenon storage for Briansun's fighter and probes.

what size are the docking ports?because the one one my fighter are the regular size(none Jr or Sr)

Yes, and there are Sr. ports, and I believe there is one normal port on the MMU dock. There may be some more normal ports once the docking arms are in.

Any interest in a Probe bay? About 6 very light weight ion probes that could be launched as and when needed?

That would be cool.

And if anyone's ships has the extra fuels to make sure the station is topped off, please do so.

Also, for moving the station, if any have ideas and want to show their engine modules, we can decide what would work best.

THanks, I'm quite happy to see this little project actually becoming a big endeavor!

As for the EVA suits, chrischambers has supplied the station with some MMU's, check back in the thread. Were these what you were thinking?

Having no rcs is hard as heck, Im trying to put as much battery life and solars panels possible. But the lag is making my laptop laggy.

Whats the point of my job if you actually have alot of solar panels and batteries, My craft only has 20,000 energy...
