Guess it is time for my first real forum topic

The Keburan Program

Ktechka on her second orbital flight.

So, the Keburan program is a stock space shuttle program that is not yet completed. It is planned to have 4 orbiters capable of carrying small satelleties up to medium sized space station parts into orbit, possibly extra fuel too. The two shuttles currently in service (Keburan and Ktechka) are capable of RCS-assisted gliding landings and parachute landings in case you come down over water. Manning the shuttles is entirely optional, and as of yet neither has been tested with kerbals on board. They are quite heavy for space shuttles (at least compared to what my friend made) and wind up landing quite heavily. However, takeoff and orbital characteristics are generally good. A total of 4 orbiters are planned by the end of the project.

History of the program:

The Program started after one of my friends had built 4 working space shuttle designs. I started to get jealous and began work on a space shuttle design:

This, of course, was hideous and wouldn't carry much anways, plus I was having issues with what the next stage would be. That's when work on the Keburan design began:

Which led into landing testing, both conventionally and with parachutes.

Which was soon followed by launch system testing after it was determined the crew would likely survive both kinds of landings.

And then its first sub-orbital space-hop occurred:

And a second sub-orbital hop which resulted in a successful landing

Another launch, being equipped with more fuel, put her into orbit finally (she had to complete the last part of the burn on RCS)

Which was decapitated on landing

More landing tests were now done after her landing gear was moved forward. The decapitation problem was solved.

And then two more orbital tests were undertaken, one by Keburan and the other by Ktechka. I took videos of the launch of the Ktechka and the landing of both shuttles, and completely ruined the audio quality with my mic, my voice, and my lack of being a good commentator.

And then a series of tests were undertaken to stabilize the parachutes

And one more orbital test of the Ktechka:

And so far that is where the program is. Sorry for the future image heaviness, maybe I'll turn each section into an Imgur album. Again, having issues with uploading photos (takes too much effort for resizing a stupid screenshot), so you'll have to do with placeholders and imagine the teaser picture shuttle in each of them with what you think I'm doing

Suggestion:

Never post "Night" picture. Especially you are not having any light on the craft.

Never post in "the spacecraft exchange" thread, if you are not planning to post your craft file.

Never give title or topic that only yourself understand.

Sorry. :)

I have several day pictures, just takes forever to get them ready (I have to transfer to a second computer with photoshop images from steam just to size them down properly). Also, where else would I post an article about a space shuttle-like program on here? I do plan on posting the .craft files, just as soon as I get the Keburan and the Ktechka into actual service and out of testing (which should be soon, just 4 more orbital flights should be enough). The night photo, however, works great as a teaser, which was what I was using it for. now if you'll excuse me, I have to get the topic page typed up.

I would suggest that you do your mission report on below thread.

(You may ask moderator to move your thread, just click on the report "icon" beside the [blog this Post], star.)

There got more thread that share your similar experience.

Mission Reports Tell us your tales of mission successes, or failures..

Press F1 (in game) to print screen, and find the picture at the screenshot folder in your KSP game folders.

Please place your [image-heavy] listing on "Imgur Photo-Album", then embed them with the code [ imgur]xxxxx[ /imgur].

The imgur also help to auto resize your image.

Hope this help.

Btw...great thread.

The thing is it's sort of a mix between the two threads; it is showing off the shuttle while saying how the program itself is going. And thanks for the imgur, the automatic resize will work better than taking the screenshots off of steam, saving them, moving them to a machine with photoshop, resizing them, then moving them back to this machine and finally to imgur

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
