I just wanted to share this article with you guys:

NASA's NEXT ion thruster runs five and a half years nonstop to set new record

The news is that their next-generation experimental ion engine has been running continuously for 5 and a half years straight inside a test chamber. Sounds like it's ready to fly!

The engine's Isp is 4190 s (wow!), while the thrust is produces amounts to 236 mN -- you read that right, miliNewtons (for comparison, the ion engine in the game produces 500 N of thrust). And you thought the LV-1 was an engine for ants!
