Problem with weird one-directional scaling (Blender/KSP?)

Heya,

I'm currently working on my first own model ever and experiencing some problems.

Precisely, there is some wierd "one-directional scaling" going on.

At the end, it's going to be some kind of "compact modular service module" (1.25-1.875m)

And while I had no problems (well, besides being completely new to Blender) creating the base part (the service module itself), I ran into troubles creating the first addon-part.

The problematic modell seems to have the right width and depth in this picture, but it clearly has not the right height (it's facing upwards, so it's more the "thickness" that's the problem, anyway).

Are you importing the .blend file into Unity? Using the KSP Part Tools within Unity, are you exporting the model as a .mu file?

Nope, just exporting it as .dae and using it via "mesh = ModuleSmall.dae".

Seems to work without problems for the main part (the big white thingy in the screen).

Easiest couple of things to check would be that you have applied any scaling within blender ([n]ormal side window, I think it's view mode has scale for X/Y/Z, make sure they're all 1), if the model scales aren't all 1, then apply your scaling (CTRL+A>scale)

Check that the Unity scales within the GameObject and the part itself are all set to 1

How do I check that Unity-stuff you mentioned? I'm not using any Unity-related programs (beside KSP itself).

But surely there has to be another solution to the problem that one modell appears correctly and the other one doesn't... without going through the hazzle of installing unity and all the stuff that comes with it?

Blender (or any 3D tool) makes the model. Of course textures are done in any image app. BUT ... Unity prepares the model to behave as an in-game object; in this case for KSP.

Noooooo frackin' idea how that happened, but z-scale was set to 1.6 o.O

Excellent news, it's always frustrating when the minutiae distracts you from otherwise making progress on your mod.

Yep Still a weird detail is the fact that the core-part is white (and pink in the small thumbnail), while the addons are gray (and gray in the thumbnail ).

White like that usually means the part doesn't have (or hasn't loaded) the texture

If a part doesn't have a UVmap + texture yet, the game just whitewashes it

All four parts don't have a texture, I'm just surprised (and a bit nervous something might be wrong) about the three modules being gray/gray instead of white/pink.

I wouldn't worry about that unless you've done the UV unwrap, made a texture, and it doesn't show up in-game.
