"Control from here" setting is very brittle.

I'm glad the very useful "control from here" feature is in the game in the first place, but every time I switch to IVA view, and possibly some other views (I haven't made a systematic effort to check what I can and can't do with it, it just ambushed me during a mission), the game resets the navball alignment back to the "core" parts'. It's a big troublemaker between and during maneuvers. Can the game be convinced to hold the setting regardless of view, between ship switches, etc., until told otherwise? It would really help make complex craft more useable.

My first though is that it is resetting the navball alignment to the part you are IVAing from, which will usually be the core part as well.

Can you test with a cabin that is not the core part but has it's alignment flipped?

It would also be nice to manually set a "default control part" while in VAB. could be incorporated into the action groups menue...

switching the point of control aligns the navball to the control source. This is intentional and a useful feature. If you want your navball to stay in the same place, then be careful how you place your control units.

The OP was talking about IVA view switching the control point which I agree doesn't make much sense and gets annoying sometimes.
