0.22 question: How will anomalies affect science gain?

Considering the anomalies aren't even guaranteed to be above the ground after updates, I doubt they will have any value to the new science gear, unless Squad seriously changes its policy towards them. Personally, I think the anomalies actually probably exist in a sort of "super-canonical" frame of the KSP universe where they don't have any serious bearing on actual in-game activities. After all, I don't think Squad is seriously suggesting that there is a race of elusive beings "out there" planting curiously logoed monoliths and leaving cryptic messages all over the Kerbol system. They're there for players to stumble on outside of their regular game experience, not as part of it.

On one of the 2012 KSP TV livestreams, one of the devs mentioned as an idea that the anomalies could be used to gather knowledge (not science points, but actual knowledge) of alien technology so as to construct a way to reach other star systems. I have no idea if they're even still considering doing that so don't take anyone's word for it.

After touching the monolith, your Kerbals gain the ability to use old animal bones to wrench open the container of snacks....

It would be nice if dropping a science pod on an extra-Kerbal anomaly, such as the --redacted-- that's to the far south on the moon, would generate a large rush of science points. Or for whatever reason, visiting the --redacted-- on Bop unlocked some random biological tech.

If so, I'll make sure to never visit any anomalies then.

Awwww...why wouldn't you want the Kerbal scientists to build a Physical law-breaking device? That can only end well, right?

On topic: Visiting the Bop anomaly should be a source of science points, aimed at understanding strange invisible forces that act on spacecraft.

Imagine if approaching the Monoliths (for which I sincerely hope will be simplified because a Squad logo simply doesn't do it for me, sorry) would do the same thing approaching to Slender does... so you can only look at it from a distance... for a while.

Or if weird, scary sh*t happens when you pass underneath an arch, for example a mirror Kerbal appears, but this one has no eye pupils and mouth, and it disappears when you go back through the arch.

:P
