Manned Maneuvering Unit compacting, upgrading, simplifying, and lightening challenge.

Recommended Posts

So a while back on the Spacecraft Exchange page, I posted a thread about a small jetpack using RCS, like the ones they use on the space station. It was made for extending kerbal capabilities (roll control) and a longer distances that can be achieved. I didn't really think it would get that much attention but it got about 41 comments saying "this was a fantastic idea, awesome, this is so cool!" But this jet pack is big, bulky, and carries only 80 units of RCS fuel.

SO MY CHALLENGE IS FOR YOU GUYS TO MAKE THIS CRAFT SIMPLER, MORE COMPACT, MAKING IT LIGHTER, AND BETTER(more fuel, longer range, better maneuverability). The craft file is down below in case you guys want to download it and mess around from it there, or you can make your own.

You can use mods

It contains:

-1 Radioisotope Thermometric Generator (RTG)

-2 Stratus-V Roundified Monopropellant Tank (Round RCS tanks carrying 40 units of monopropellant each) ... 80 units of monopropellant total

-1 Probodobodyne OKTO

-4 Place Anywhere 7 Linear RCS Ports

-2 RV-105 RCS Thruster Block

-1 Clamp-O-Tron Jr.

-1 EAS-1 External Command Seat

-1 Cubic Octagonal Strut

-1 Modular Girder Segment
