Your Favorite planet/moon!

I've never been to Dres but I feel it is the runt of the planets - nobody ever visits it, or has any funny stories about it. Nobody mentioned it as their favourite, it has no anomalies. Its the planet everyone forgets, poor Dres. If anybody has actually been to Dres or likes Dres or has even heard of Dres please, for the love of God, raise your hand.

I've had plenty of fun with Dres. It's my favorite planet, in fact, since it's the lightest of the lot. This poll specified planets OR moons, however, so I was obligated to give the asteroid-moons a mention.

I'm glad you said that - I think my next big mission will be a manned Dres mission, just to give it a bit of recognition :)

Laythe because of the Oceans an Oxygen atmosphere. I'd love to see a more planets with Oxygen atmospheres and water, but with vastly different terrain features for exploring. Being able to take a plane and fly around to check stuff out is awesome. Also traveling Kerbin > Laythe or Laythe > Kerbin is made significantly less fuel intensive because of both having significant atmospheres for aerobraking. You can actually transfer from Kerbin to Laythe for under 2500 d/v and Laythe > Kerbin for under 1500 (from orbiting either) if you line up your windows correctly.

I like Eve the best. The shiny oceans of molten lead combined with a sky that changes colors from purple to green offer a combination you just can't beat anywhere else. I never want to leave it, which is fortunate because I probably won't be able to :).

My top 5 Celestial bodies with Favorite at #1 is

1.Minmus: Close to home, and super easy to land on with its low gravity

2.Gilly: What gravity?

3.Eve: I love the look of it and I thouroghly enjoy stranding setting up permanent bases on it.

4.Jool system: Aside from celestial ping pong with Jool and its moons, I love it to death.

5. Duna: It's gravity is low enough to be easy to take off from and it has an atmosphere for parachutes to work.

Of the places I have been so far, Minmus and Duna are my favorites.

Minmus for it's beautiful color, low gravity, and super-flat 'lakes' that make perfect landing sites. I find it easier to get to than the Mun for some reason, and the low gravity makes landing there a breeze. I tend to use it as a target for testing out new craft designs before sending them further out into the system.

Duna because Mars has always fascinated me, and I enjoy recreating the various Mars missions NASA has sent there over the years. It presents an enjoyable challenge without being too unforgiving, and I found it a good testbed for learning on before taking on Eve.

Kerbin: fascinating planet with a broad spectrum of landscapes. Frozen wastelands, soaring mountains, temperate forests and a vast desert.

Eve: 'brutal' planet and visually nice at the same time. Provides plenty of challenges when it comes to return-missions ... !

Duna: interesting landscape (especially since 0.21) and for me the easiest planet to visit. Although I've toppled countless landers over there.

Favorite Planet? Kerbin. Favorite moon? Mun.

I know, I'm so boring, but when 90% of my missions to another surface have been to the Mun, it's kinda hard not to love it.

And why Kerbin? Because Kerbin is home. It's where you're safe for a few billion years till the sun expands, it's where you have the means to build anything you want. It's where you can test craft without first launching them somewhere else..

My alternate answers to this question would be:

Planet: Duna. It's so pretty, the warmly colored surface and atmosphere make it seem so much more barren and untouched than it already is, plus it's low gravity and you should be able to make it to orbit with a slightly beefed-up Mun lander. Also low altitude aerobraking <3

Moon: Vall. It's by far, in my opinion, the most gorgeous atmosphere-lacking body in the game, save for possibly the Mun after it got the art pass. I love Vall even if I've never successfully gotten to the surface in one piece. It's a love/hate thing...
