Maybe I'm just missing it, but...

Is there any way to set the Sun as a target?

Reason: I'm building a massive solar collector set for a microwave power station (Mechjeb, Remotetech, Interstellar) and I want an easy way to keep the attitude of the station oriented radial to the sun, regardless off it's orbit.

So, is there a way?

Until Kerbol is not the only star in the KSP system, no. The best you can do is to point your craft at the star and accept the fact that it will immediately drift away from that attitude as it orbits.

I think that's true anyway. There may or may not be a mod that does this, but time warp would mess that up anyway.

It's possible that I'm also missing something but don't your solar arrays automatically track the sun as you orbit? I'm assuming your power station is orbiting Kerbin! Although if I remember correctly, Kerbol, Kerbin and the Mun are all in the same orbital plane, so using the Mun as a target might help to orient your station.

Thing is, the design I've got has an optimum attitude for sun exposure to all panels, for maximum sunlight to energy, basically aft end at Kerbol. Best I've got so far is targeting Moho and orienting it like that. Not optimum, but best I can do right now. Remotetech allows antenna pointing at the Sun, but that's it so far...

the attitude you place it at will not be maintained ANYWAY, attitude of the craft can only be maintained when it is the active craft - using mechjeb you can maintain its attitude automatically (dont have to set it as target, look in the smart ASS tab, and set to i think its radial to inerta?) but the moment you swap away teh attitude will drift. this is due to orbital mechanics. the ISS for example, only maintains attitude due to gravitational drag (+other) any other body that does not have an inertal spin on it will not maintain attitude. in KSP all rotational inerta is lost the moment the craft either enters time warp or is no longer active.

remotetech i beleive ignores steric issues to have the dishes pointed at what they need to - the attitude of the craft is irrelivent (and thus so is the positioning of the dishes). not sure about interstellar, but i would imagine the power output is EITHER maintained from last active time, or just done on a maximum possible assuming all panels are gaining power maximally. otherwise the best you can hope for is to have a "flat" (2 symetry) and align it such that the panels can rotate to get maximal efficency.
