How to name undocked probes / rovers?

Is it somehow possible to name ships which are made of several docked parts different? I noticed that if something undocks, it gets the sufix "Probe".

Is it possible to change the sufix or the whole name of the undocked part?

I got a an unkerbed Lander (Sparkle) with an attached Satellite (Rarity) and an attached rover (Dash), which I would love to name from the beginning and not every time after undocking.

Same goes for my kerbed Lander (Flutters) with Satellite (Hummingway) and kerbed rover (Angel)

Right click on the probe core or command pod and it says "Rename Vessel".

It only will be Re-nameable before and after docking.

I think the request is for ships to return to their pre-docking name after they undock. Unfortunately it's not possible at present. Hopefully it will appear in later releases.

The way how the ship names change through docking and undocking really puzzles me. I had three ships, let's call them A, B, and C. I docked B to A (result had name A). then I docked C to (B docked to A). Grabbed B and undocked from A. Then I undocked B from C and voila - ship C was suddenly called "B Ship".

awww, ok. I'll stick with naming them on undock then

But it would be nice to have some kind of part management to define names beforehand.
