Friction

Recommended Posts

Wasnt sure weather to mark as a suggestion or a discussion so went for the latter.

I may well be the only one but it seems like my kerbals and a few of my lighter vehicles seem to slide areound a bit too much. I've been doing a lot of MUN stuff recently and have noticed that my kerbals slide an awfully long way when they fall down a hill...just sliding and sliding.

I know that in reality you would probably do alot of rolling around as if you slipped down a hill on the moon but it just seems so unnatural in ksp.

Am i the only one who sees this? I am pretty stupid

Actually the problem with most rovers is too much friction. The wheels have no slip if they go sideways so the entire craft flips.

On the other hand I too have had a kerbal face-slide a good half a kilometer after hitting the ground too hard on his way to the rescue vehicle.

I usually have less problems with friction and more problems with gravity. Minmus seems to be the biggest culprit, I had a small rover there that I landed and it flipped end over end for, literally, 40 minutes. I went out to dinner and came back to it still flipping. I eventually had to redesign it to spread out its mass a bit more so it wouldn't flip as easily.

I also lost a Kerbal on EVA due to the way it came down on an unassisted jump. The Kerbal bounced, then bounced over a ridge which gave it far too much air time so it landed face first at about 20 m/s. Crunch went the Kerbal.

Yeah, I hate Minmus.
