A good game for prospective rocket builders.

Are you having problems building rockets because they keep falling apart?

Perhaps some structural engineering is in order.

Try "bridge builder." It's a game where you build a bridges, and send heavy trains across to see if they stand up to the pressure. The pressure on the members as the train goes across is color coded, so one can see where stress builds, and how it's transferred. This knowledge is crucial for strut placement. And it's actually pretty similar to the VAB, where you can pick different structural parts and place them.

I believe there are actually a few games that do this, but I think the one I played was just called "bridge builder." It looks like the following picture:

It taught be a lot about thinking how stress is transferred.

Right now KSP is a combination of bridge builder, and Orbiter. .22 sounds like they're including Sid Meir's Civilization. Now if they can just get Dwarf Fortress in there somewhere, they will have all my favorite games combined into one.

lol theres like a million of games like this.

if you want us to find that one youll have to include a link

Well anyone of them will do, really. I don't really want to link to one as to "promote" it, so to speak.

I'm just saying there is a style of game out there, that people can play with, that will teach static and dynamic moments, which can lead to better ship-building.

I built a bridge that can achieve orbit.

I believe this means I have preemptively won all bridge building games.

Technically you've beat everyone, because no one else has a bridge in orbit.

But have you sent a train across it yet?

I didn't build it in orbit. Tried to run a rover across it once, hit a truss, almost killed a trainee. Bad karma.

It just occurred to me. KSP is so versatile, one could build bridges (ships really), and test them by driving rovers across them (FFS, someone built a trebuchet).
