Spaceplane help

Recommended Posts

Now that i've finally learned to dock, i have been trying some space planes. I've gotten two into orbit so far, but i am having difficulty with bigger planes. For initial launch, i use all sets of engines i have(atmosphere, orbital, maneuver) to get it to a good speed. When i hit down the plane lifts up, or at least the front end. The back end scrapes the ground, destroying half of the engines. How do i get the back to lift also, since this didn't happen with smaller planes? :~) Should i put the wheels further back, more wings in back, or just more power? Thanks in advance for your help!

are you using the stock spaceplanes?

one way to do this is to activate SAS first (not asas, if you have one remove it), accel. down the runway, and at the end of the runway hit the down button. don't hold it or the engines will scratch the runway and doom the mission. the vertical angle should be around 3 degrees to avoid that. once you leave the ground high enough ascend in vertical angle of 30 degrees. while landing also keep the vertical angle not more than 5 degrees.

If you're trying to pitch up before the end of the runway try putting your rear landing gear more forward toward the center of mass. This will make it easier for the plane to pitch over those rear gears without fighting a lack of lift at take-off speeds. Keep in mind this is more dangerous and can lose you an engine or all of them...
