(NASI) (BluPlanet Inc.) The Very First (I hope) Soi Ooze TMA-K! (NOW UPDATED!)

Recommended Posts

Ladies and gentlemen, Kerbals and Krakens, I present to you (what I hope to be), the very first full Soyuz replica, the Soi Ooze*! Capable of docking**, orbital maneuvers, and even science***! It can separate into 3 sections, the orbital module, descent module, and the service module! Just like the real thing! It has about 700m/s of dV and over 300m/s of RCS for even the most imperfect docking! However, keep in mind that this is just the module, so the launch vehicle is sold separately****. Now, time for the mandatory screenshots of the magnificent beast that the Soi Ooze is!

UPDATE!: The Soi Ooze is now updated to the TMA-K Series! The major difference being the little shroud cover thing at the end of the craft.

Although this Soyuz can hold only one Kerbal, it can be modified to carry more, although clipping seats into the already over-clipped Soi Ooze would be pushing it to its limit.

That last image is showcasing one of the known bugs and the space station you see with it is not for sale.

KNOWN BUGS

-Sometimes the orbital module doesn't detach completely from the descent module until the parachute is fully deployed.

-When docking, the craft can sometimes flex 90 degrees.

-After undocking, the craft is locked in a random direction permanently and cannot change attitude until the fuel tank over the capsule is broken.

These bugs are a plague, so I must consult one of the highest authorities over spacecraft making: Mulbin.

Mulbin, hear my plea! Look over the craft to help ease the bugs that plague my craft! I'll even throw in a funny pun with it!

* That's how George Clooney pronounced it in the most awesome movie ever, Gravity.

** Look at bug number two above

*** If you can load this in your career save then I don't think you need anymore science points.

**** There is no launch vehicle

Haven't had a chance to look at the craft but....

1. Orbital module not decoupling - may be due to the decoupler and attached parts being clipped, sometimes things get stuck. Try using a blue separator instead... might work.

2. Flexing/bending/crazy physics - usually due to the small square struts, especially when they are clipped inside objects or attached directly to the docking port. You can sometimes brace them with support struts but if possible completely replace them with beams.

3. Undocking and locked in one direction - this is a common bug (munbug does it) and is a flaw with KSP not your craft. To fix it simply quick save then quick load. Although this bug may have been fixed by the .22 patch!

Hope this helps.

I did some work on a Soi Ooze LOK that I was working on that had the same problems. All in all, I fixed the pieces not separating, yet I'm going to have to work on the docking problem if I want this thing going anywhere near the Mun with a lander.
