What's the pod indicator in the staging display?

I admit, I didn't look too hard for it, but what's that pod indicator that now shows up in the staging order in 0.22?

I just did my first 0.22 mission, and not knowing what it was, I was afraid to move it to anything in the staging order that would take place before landing. As far as I can tell it doesn't do anything when I hit the space bar, but I may be missing it. Is it addressed in a tutorial? I was relatively confident with 0.21 so I just hopped straight into the career mode.

Huh, all those random things were removed in .18 to clean up the staging list... But now they're just re-adding them?
