Part I

The ZSSP (Zokesia Skunkworks Space Program) started as a small group of people throwing things up into the air. As those "things" got bigger and more explosive, the group decided to charter a company in the hopes of making money while exploring space. Through the small science capital they built up from their experiments on the ground, they managed to build the Pollok II, a small but reliable ship, based on their Pollok I ground tests. The first flight went suborbital, but the second achieved real success in attaining a stable orbit.

Sadly, due to a parachute glitch the pilot was killed in re-entry.

But this did not stop the Pollok Program. Within a week, two more Pollok IIs had been launched, and managed to rendezvouses with each other despite lacking electrical power or RCS.

The next ship, the Pollok III, was able to do large amounts of science (due to their having extra batteries), but was restricted to LKO.

Pollok IV was able to get into Low Munar Orbit, and conduct lots of science, but lacked the fuel to land. It was quickly concluded a two-part ship would be needed to land and return from the mun.

Part II

The new ship for Munar Landings was designed as a one man, non-reusable two-part lander/orbiter combo. It was named the Munbeam I. Still lacking RCS, the combo could not re dock. The kerbal had to EVA back to the orbiter.

Also developed for this was the MT-9, a small lifter that seemed to do the job perfectly.

The first launch proved problematic. It was found the lander's gear was attached backwards, but the pilot Jebediah decided it was "A-OK" to try and land anyways.

It worked.

Fuel was extremely tight on the mission, but Jeb got back to kerbin safely.

The next mission had more batteries and was dubbed the Munbeam II.

The landing gear worked much better this time.

Second safe return from the Mun!

Munbeam III went to Minmus.

This was the last of the Munbeam flights, as ZSSP directors were already planning bigger, better missions to the mun and minmus. Three manned pods had been developed and the engineers were itching to use them.
