Sepratron lander/ACTS

Recommended Posts

Basically the Russians are really crazy and they want to make this: http://www.universetoday.com/30110/russia-considering-rocket-powered-precision-landing-for-next-generation-spacecraft/

That lander capsule will land on the earth with 100% SRB power, no parachute, no landing leg (!Imagine what will happen if the rocket malfunctions!)

Because Kerbals love explosions, why we didn't make the same lander module, but with sepratron instead of downward facing SRB?

Rules:

1. NO LITHOBRAKING! This means nothing should explode

2. You could use the drogue chute

3. You could use landing leg, but using none of them ensures that you follow the first rule (lithobraking using passenger capsule = dead = fail)

4. Sepratron cfg hacking is allowed if you feel sepratron is too powerful for this

You could use any mods, but a mod that knows the radar altitude and fire the sepratron at the precise time is really recomended (kOS? Mechjeb script? Mechjeb autoland?)

Hehe. Since Im from Russia myself, I definitely gotta try that >:D

EDit:

Ok, not exactly following rules, since some lander legs and some sepratons exploded, but some were left. But I compensated it without useing parachute or any mods =)

erm, the ACTS does have landing legs (hidden behind the dropable thermal shield) - and it should have emergency parachutes in case of rocket malfunctions :) - russians are searching since a long time to make their space vehicles land at a specific small target zone after reentry (which is not really possible with parachutes in real life, due to the winds)
