Night & Day

Just noticed that it's nighttime when I look at the menu map of the base, but it's daylight outside of the construction hanger. Are there plans for this already?

When you look at the launch site, it will be the same time of day if you launch a rocket immediately after exiting the screen. For example, if it is sunset at the launch screen then it will be the same time of day if you launch a rocket afterwards. However, this does not apply to the VAB or the SPH. Sadly, I don't know if there are any plans for this.

Bac9 explains in his blog that the lighting in the SPH/VAB is "baked" and not dynamic - changing lighting effects between day and night would have taken too much time or effort to implement as part of the space centre update.

I realize that I'm late to the party here, but I just did a search to see if someone else had noticed the night/day issue.

Something I also realized is that the VAB faces due East. Could there be an issue with the rising sun making vehicle assembly difficult - you know - blinding sun doing its... blinding thing?

Just a thought ...for consideration.

No, it's simply that the VAB skybox doesn't take day/night into concideration

I think you misunderstood there

He was questioning whether sunrise would be an issue when they do take into account night and day cycles.

As in, whether the sunrise might be a bit of a problem and be too bright. But I don't think that'll be an issue; the developers will be the ones coding the sunrise (or have already, etc.)
