Most valuable science in the game?

I managed to get a probe out of the system but ran out of power before I could run tests, which is odd becuase the probe was covered in solar arrays. maybe I just needed more batteries.

You mean away from the sun?

The further away you get, the less the solarpannels can generate

I wonder if I'm doing something wrong or if I should be using transmissions more. I one ship to Duna and one to Ike, each had two pods, two science Jrs and two mystery goo containers. I collected EVA reports in high orbit, low orbit and the surface, as well as a crew report from the surface and low orbit for each ship. Finally I collected two surface samples from each ship (two from Duna and two from Ike) and I recovered both vessels back at Kerbin, yet my net results was only about 1600 science total for both ships combined. I forgot to put antennas on so I wan't able to transmit my crew reports (which are 100% with transmission). I had though recovery would have been better than spamming transmissions, but I guess not.

Spamming transmissions ends up being more efficient, you need a smaller ship (less repeated parts) or less "single part" trips to get almost the same max science, except that of returning soil samples and the ship return tself. Combine both in a single mission and you'll get a lot of science.

the atmospheric sensor (nosecone) yields quite a bit, but takes the most time and power to 'upload' the data...

The popup that displays the results and asks if you want to keep them is currently bugged and overreporting the science that that part generates by a factor of 10, and if you watch it when you turn it in, you'll see you get a lot less for it than it claimed. And yes, the devs have confirmed that that is the bug, the bug is not that you're getting less science than you're supposed to. There's two other science instruments that suffer from this issue as well, but I can't remember what they are right now.

An atmospheric probe in Eve's upper atmosphere rates at 1200. But I haven't recovered it, so I've only gotten a fraction of it. A full suite of sensors dropped to eve's surface will net you around 2400.

Note that there's a bug with some science equipment. It'll say it gives you 1200 when you use that atmosphere probe on Duna, but when you actually get home it only gives 120. It's not just a question of misplacing the decimal point; I had one piece of equipment say it'd give 240 and then it gave me 96 when I got home, despite there being no transmission involved to explain a 40% efficiency.

It's the same bug, not all of the incorrect results get multiplied by 10. It's actually because the popup doesn't know that different experiments can have different data amounts for the same internal science value. Atmospheric analysis gets 10 times as much data, some of the others get three times as much data, and the popup trips over both categories.
