Subassembly Exchange?

Just wondering if there would be any demand for a sub-assembly exchange thread, now that this is a feature of the game.

Theres not much point, as subs are saved as .crafts, so you can just download a lifter and put it in your subassembly file, or take a craft, load it up and save the lifters a subassembly.

I disagree, I tried dropping in a CRAFT file from the VAB folder to the sub-assemblies folder and they never showed up.

After using the game interface to save the craft as a subassembly (in this case I'm using one of Temstar's Zenith lifter designs), I used Notepad ++ to compare the two files. The only difference (besides the stuff that KAS adds) was the subassemblies file had a "description = " line.

I have done no further testing. Anyone know if this is the cause of the CRAFT's not showing up if you just drop them into the subassemblies folder??

Maybe I should clarify that I dropped in a pre-.22 craft file. I'll have to try it with a .22 craft

Note for correctly saving vab or sph. craft as subassemblies : the root part needs to be radially attachable or to have a free node (and yes, it works, did it a couple of time already )

This sounds like a great idea! However, there might be compatibility issues coming from career mode unlocks. Perhaps sub-exchanges?

Is it possibly a side affect of using the select root mod? I usually build these then use select root to make a docking port the root part.

I've found that using the standard sub assembly tool deletes some struts, so I build a launcher, and move the craft from the VAB to the subassembly folder.
