On the Ethics of One-Way Landing Missions ...

I don't do one-way missions, and try my ultimate best not to kill anyone.

I really hate calling up the famalies of the missing/lost Kerbalnauts and tell them, that due to the incompetentcy in my agency, their loved ones will likely never come home. I hate to think that the Kerbal I killed probably had a loving wife, parents, and was a father to several kerblings. I hate to tell the little kerblings that Daddy's not coming home. I really hate it. It's heart wrenching for me to sacrafice any crewmember on a crewed voyage. I treat my Kerbalnauts as I do real employees, giving them downtime, breaks, and send them home everytime. Seriously, think of the families of our kerbalnauts! And if that isn't enough, think of all the life insurance fees!

I am soon going to do my first manned mission to Ike. I just put a probe in orbit around it, and got it home. But now I really need to work on landing a Kerbal. This has all been to build up to a manned mission to Duna. It's the main focus I always strive for. In 320 hours playing, I've done one manned mission to Duna and returned it, but now in career mode, its so much more satisfying to get somewhere. Sending probes out has also been a lot more fun.

Oh, and kerbal engineer helps immensely in planning.
