Factorial symmetry sub-types

Let's say that I have 8 panels in the one symmetry group. Currently if I want to place a part on the panels, I can only either pick to place one or eight. What I suggest is that we be able to add any number of parts to the panels, as long as the number is a factor of eight or whatever the parent symmetry group is.

Example: I have attached 6 boosters to my core stage. I only want three of them to have fins. The parent symmetry group is 6. I want the option to be able to add three, that is, one fin every second booster.

That is perfectly possible with the parent system. Would simply take some extra coding so as it doesn't snap the symmetry to the parent's symmetry mode all the time. I don't know if there'd be extra issues with it, though, but it'd certainly be a useful tool

Agreed. I've seen this suggestion before and it'd be very useful, particularly for making asparagus rockets.

Agreed. Only question is should the title be "factor-able" instead of factorial? I was fairly confused when I saw factorial.

You can do it with the sub-assembly thingie: build your part, make it a sub-assembly, open your main craft, put it on it.

Of course what you suggest would be much more user-friendly.
