Help moving large crafts on kerbin

I'm having a lot of trouble getting this on the tallest mountain west of the KSC. The not being able to quick save makes it 1000x worse. I'm thinking of trying to drive it over to the mountain and trying from there.

Any other ideas to make this less painful?

The only problem I can see is that you are clearly flying in the dark which might make landing very complicated. Maybe try it during the day?

Or is it because vertical landing with jet engines is very delicate operation? You might try to add some rocket engines to help just with the landing part. Or some impact suspension at the bottom.

Or maybe give better description of what problems you have.

Try going sub-orbital? Or full orbit even

Fly into space, than adjust your orbit so that you land in the correct spot

Break it up into smaller pieces via docking ports and move those?
