Question about future Tech Tree development

When and if more parts become available I would presume they would be added to the Tech Tree in Career Mode. At such time, would science points already accumulated still be available to research the new techs or will we need to start again? I have landed probes on 4 or 5 other celestial bodies so far and have completed the tech tree as it stands now and have an extra 5000 science points stacked up. Do I need to hold other celestial bodies in reserve for science gathering in the future?

I've no idea. As likely as not, nobody will know for sure till the devs start to fill out the Tech Tree. I would think that, unless there's some serious rearranging of the tech tree, as well as replacement for existing nodes introduced, it should not erase your already gained science points

I believe due to the nature of this game being in alpha you are likely not to be playing on the same career save in a few versions. I do not believe even the devs would be able to answer your question right now.

If your save stays compatible when they update the tree, I'm sure you keep your science, as that's logged in the save file.

If your save does not stay compatible, it's not relavent anyway

Worst thing that could happen, is probably you ending up with nodes that are not researched in the middle of the branch you fully researched prior to an update, basically as if you skipped a node. I wouldn't worry much about it. New parts will probably get added to current nodes or new ones with the overall structure of the tree remaining mostly the same.
