Flat Support Struts

Currently support struts allow you to bridge two areas with 2 endpoints and a line, I was thinking if you also allow e 3-8 point connection schemes, you could have a flat surface(or a surface made of triangles) spanning the distance between all the points instead of just a line, it could potentially be stronger, but it would allow for more inventive aesthetics, since people could make cool shapes for their ships to match an interior skeleton easier.(who knows it might even lower part count to help reduce processor load. because people wont be using large quantities of wings and panels to make things look nice.)

It shouldn't be too difficult to program this alteration, but I will offer to help if I can.

p.p.s. yes, I just realized that the title isn't very descriptive, I should have chosen a different one. If A moderator wouldn't mind changing it to Geometric Struts.
