Seems to be something like a planet. The "rough and raw" surface would be the crust. And the peers would be the asteroids or clumps of dust that built the planet. And all the talk about breaking or beating would be beings extracting materials from the planet, metals or minerals they need.

Eeeeeh... not really. After all, not all planets can really be said to have a crust, as such, and 'peers' generally implies simultaneous existence... it would be more like 'fathers' or 'builders' if it was something that came together to form it.

I think it's a diamond. Taken from the ground, diamonds are uncut and "raw", dull, etc.

EDIT:

If not so specific, perhaps gemstones in general

Eeyup. I must be getting rusty. I need more practice. :P

No, you're not getting rusty. I'm just getting better. :P (What, no :P face? Oh, wait.. better)

Okey-dokey then, my go. I'll post one eventually, just hang in there.

Meh. I don't really think it's very hard. But I'm getting there.

Slammed into my home with a forceful blow,

Into a place I had not wished to go,

Governed by beings who heed not my pleas,

They will do anything to satisfy their needs.

Beaten and bent with no end in sight,

And still my tormenters strike me,

Deeper and deeper I sink,

Until I fit like a lock and key.

What am I?

Hm. Lockpick? Chisel? Nails (like iron nails)?

There we go! Aaaaand it's your turn...

EDIT:

So here's an idea. Limit everyone to 1 guess per post, and no multi-posting. They may edit their post to a new answer if they want, but only one answer at a time. Therefore, it minimizes the chances of those who are just straight-up guessing getting the answer, and makes you pick and choose more carefully.

EDIT 2:

You know, Vexx, I wasn't even going for lockpick, but I suppose that's an even better answer to it. Wow.

I dunno about one guess per post... I mean, unless it's plain someone is just blindly guessing, it should be alright.

I've got some uni work to do, so someone else can make a riddle for now.

Wat? WAT? YOU are giving riddle to someone else? Understand - uni work.

But my mind doesn't get it...

Okay, here we go!

Small I may be,

but you wait and see.

I'll show you what I make,

and it's much more than me.

Parts of a whole that are many in number,

yet powerful forces may rend us asunder.

Dependent on currents with nature of lightning,

images depicted, may be fascinating or frightening.

Tricking the eyes

with the illusion of motion,

I may not fly,

but I can give you the notion.

What am I?

Decided not to make it as obvious.

Sorry, it's a really minor thing, but in that context, one would use 'rend' instead of 'rent'. In other words, one can rend a sheet of metal, but the sheet of metal is thus rent.

(I'll be back with some guesses once I actually get some uni work done, hehe)
