Scanning the surface biomes for remaining science from orbit

I know that suggesting "improved satellites" in on the what not to suggest, so if this violates this, let me know and I will move it to the mod suggestion forums.

So what I suggest is a part that scans the surface of a celestial object from orbit, like the ore scanners of extraplanetary launchpads, or kethane mods. This part, however, reveals how much science is yet to be researched in the area on the ground. It could reveal borders between biomes and highlight biomes that have not been explored at all. The area it reveals could either be constant, or depend on the altitude of the part.
