Is there anywhere that I can get stock textures and meshes?

Recommended Posts

If you mean from KSP, you'd need to open a .mu or other image file and a .mbm file. If you mean generally stock items online, there are several websites offering such things, but may not be suitable for KSP use. There are also apps which are good for making textures. You can use PS or Gimp or others to do textures. But for already made, the above applies.

Oops! That's .mu model file and .mbm or other image file.

I should have specified, I meant the stock parts from KSP, like the orange tank, mainsail engine, etc.

I vaguely know about mbm and mu files, can you tell me the difference between the two? It seems to me like mbm's hold the pictures, but I'm not sure what mu's do.

Being a newbie Modeler and Modder I found that if you download the .18 Demo version of KSP about 1/3 of the parts are in .DAE format and can be opened in Blender. You will have to First open the DAE file with note pad or some other text editor and scroll through the CFG data and remove anything referring to /diffuse and everything in between too diffuse/ start and finish of the diffuse lines. Just remove those and it should open in Blender. This is due to the original model being made in some other program like Mya or 3D Max and not in Blender. There are 3 engine models, lander leg, A couple tanks, SAS, and RCS unit..couple more.
