Well my mission control ship, to help with the landing of my probe finally arrived at Eve.

The XI-3, great vessel, slightly faster than the XI-2, same range, and more power.

I admire your patience for using Ion engines on a full sized craft hulling payloads across the solar system.

Thanks, the XI-3 isn't nearly as slow as the XI-2. The 2100m/s burn into Eve only took 2hr and 35 min instead of the 3hr 45min of the XI-2.

I'm going to land my escape pod on the ground instead of in the ocean. I developed a really stable and wide landing base in my attempt to make something with a wide base with pontoons attached. I'm going to test it now and post the results if it succeeds.

Wish me luck!

I landed softer than a snowflake, but it didn't leave the ground... ;.;

Alas, I will not be taking an escape pod nor landing Kerbals on the surface of Eve. I just can't get 12km/s delta-v into a small enough package to make it practical for my versatile space ship to take it to Eve.

The base mission should be cake, and I've got a point buffer....

I can spend one more evening trying to design a light weight Eve escape vehicle, but if I can't do it tonight, I've got to get on the ball to be done by Friday.

I have a lander that might work, I have tested it on Kerbin and it can easily make it to a 125km orbit there from the ground. And Kerbal Engineering tells me it has enough d/V and TWR to make orbit on Eve, but it is over 75 parts and I couldn't bring it with my ship TO Eve. For some reason my computer flips out at 200 parts. Even though my i5 should be able to handle it without a problem, it rarely takes more than 33% load on one core.

I really don't understand why you guys are running into problems with such low part counts. I can over 1000 part ships and still get about 10 fps at launch. 800 parts and it's about 20 fps. Core load is about 30 - 40%. Even with an i5 you should still be able to get at least 500 - 600 part ships.

All the physics calculations per part go to the processor, the parts themselves are stored in your RAM, everything else graphics wise goes to the GPU.

Its partly due to the number of plugins being run. When I load up the game I am using around 2.95-3.2GB of my 8GB of RAM. But due to the 32bit code that KSP runs it wont run more than 3.4GB of RAM.

Yeah something about that low part count is suspicious. You might also want to check the integrity of the game cache, you may have not gotten a piece of the last update. Go to your steam library and right click on Kerbal Space Program, then click properties, then click the Local Files tab at the top, then click Verify Integrity of Game Cache. See if it finds anything. Also Sirine's suggestion may be a cause, you can check to see if it's running through task manager. Also, an adobe flash plugin may be slowing your computer down. You may also have something else.

If you guys are using Windows OS, remember to check if your cpu are affected with the famous "svchost 50% or svchost 100%" bug.

How do you check for this? I know my PC is running 13 copies of svchost.exe when I look in the processes tab.

Holy cow, there's your problem right there. It's shown in the task manager. Are you using windows XP?

How much CPU usage is each one taking up?

Are there any that are suspiciously high?

10. Shuttle Missions - Use a space shuttle to carry attachments to your craft in orbit, the shuttle must land at the KSC runway = +50 points per shuttle mission successfully completed (payload mass must be 15 tons or greater)

Ok. Get the science rover to LKO. 50 points earn.

Credit to antbin for his amazing cargo lifter.

Images for landing the plane to KSC. Lifting part are easy, and normal. You may try it yourself via the link provided.

Think I need to put some landing beacons.

There's just one problem... this isn't a shuttle. This is an SSTO cargo lifter equivalent of the Skylon SSTO. The difference is shown below. This craft takes off and lands on a runway like the Skylon SSTO. A shuttle takes off using rockets from the launchpad and then lands on the runway like a plane. So you would get the Master of Aerodynamics bonus points for this of +10, not the Shuttle Missions bonus of +50. Also, space shuttles shouldn't have any jet engines or air intakes at all. They're all rocket powered.

@700NitroXpress You know what...a "rocket power" craft, with wings... That is much much easier to deal with compare with wings with Jet Engines. SSTO.

And

A shuttle takes off using rockets from the launchpad and then lands on the runway like a plane.

Please be more specific...Or better still I need to get your verification again...before launch?

Below image are the beacons...

I'm sorry for any confusion. Shuttle missions was referring to Space Shuttle Missions, which is using the NASA space shuttle in the pictures of my previous post. Carry the cargo up into orbit using a rocket powered shuttle and then that shuttle must land on the runway. Master of Aerodynamics uses an SSTO all jet powered, then to liquid fuel oxidizer powered, to take cargo from the runway, into orbit, and then lands back at the runway.

If you're unsure about anything or need clarification on what is posted on the original post, always ask.

The beacons are awesome, very useful.

Give me 5 minutes...don't go away...I'm posting my shuttle.

An Object with Wings, and Rocket powered, no JetEngines, No Air Intakes, Can Carry Payload, and Drop Payload, Launch from Launch Pad Vertically, and Land on Runways Horizontally, is consider a shuttle...Right?

Yes, this will work as long as it's launched from the launchpad and lands on the runway using rocket power.
