For those who want to see what that looked like and how it played, a link to a play through series page:

15 minutes into the first video in the series, the player is able to converse with the dead; asking questions which may be helpful in game play.

Its early '90s stuff, but interesting to compare with Bungie's later titles.

Mac users may get the game free from Apple's App Store. Since Bungie started out making games for Macs only, there is no Windows version.
