The best thing about this is that if you made the effort to obey the limitations of terminal velocity throughout the entire ascent you'd be able to go even further.

All you're doing when you get fire is wasting fuel against drag/air resistance.

Yes! This typically happens when I have so much SRB thrust that I can literally cut my engines and still accelerate very fast. Also, it has stopped happening almost completely as I now know better and I installed Deadly Re-Entry, witch I think changes the situation in witch you will flame up a bit. Also I have Kerbal Engineer telling me my atmospheric efficiency. It is fun to roast Jeb sometimes though....

Yep, making flames on the way up is pretty awesome, but I always think "Oh no, my fuel efficiency!" followed by "Oh no, my ship's gonna disintegrate!" Gas prices these days, ya know? :P

It is hard sometimes to make FAR and Deadly Reentry work well with overpowered SRB ships, but it has led to much better designs.
