Light Rocket Parts - Science Missions

Recommended Posts

This is my first Idea/submission for challenges. My Idea is to see how many planets/moons one can get science from using only light rocket parts (no heavy rocket parts, No Mods) in career mode. See tech tree below: TI6ckzA.png

The first to do all planets/moons (including the Sun where possible) would be the winner in various categories:

Prob flyby's/returns with science recorded.

Prob landings/returns with science recorded.

Maned flyby's/returns with science recorded.

Maned landings/returns with science recorded.

My question would be does this make a good challenge?? I have been having fun seeing how far and how many science point I can reach/get with the limited tech tree. I have been liking the ships/rockets I have designed to get to various places. BJQ

This is on its way to landings on Eve and Duna. Also Ike. It may reach the Jool system. Will add a ring of SRBs and it will easily reach the Jool system and its moons. Possibly Eeloo when that planet crosses the orbit of Jool.

Flyby and returns should be possible with this light rocket. This demo rocket with the bigger SRBs can do long range one way missions. Landing and returns are going to require heavy rockets or Wackjob stacks of the smaller stuff.

Limit the parts available. Also, maybe a limit on the launch weight to force efficiency of design. It should be possible to make most of the objectives using light parts only.

Keep in mind that landing and return from Jool and the sun are not possible. Return from Eve is unlikely using just small parts unless one resorts to docking, refueling, and assembly of a mission specific ship.
