A boat?

Recommended Posts

Any ideas on building an engine for a boat from the STOCK parts? I know that propulsion will work in all cases but I am thinking of something not so expendable. Lets say send boat to Laythe oceans with no possibility to refuel.

Electricity works fine with wheels but wheels does no good in water (didn't test them all).

Ion engines looks promising but produces very low trust and even with that low speed gigantor solar panels does not feel good in low atmosphere.

Ion engines... Don't get me started with them. I used some in one of my "boats", and I can tell you: they suck. You would need a ton of them to get going. If you do use them, use the 1x1 panels that don't deploy and many, many generators.

Your best approach may be to just make a copy of the Ion engine part and rename it, then edit the part.cfg file to have a large amount of thrust with low electric power consumption.

You might be able to remove the xenon gas requirement?

I've never tried to remove fuel from an engine though, so I don't know how the game would react to it.

If it won't allow it, then give the engine an isp of 90,000.

Also remember to rename both the file folder and the part.cfg file.

In this case I know the mod with quite nice propeller specially for the water.
