The Spacemonkey
Post all your moments when you just had to bring that little Kerbal back from your Munar trip, even though you didn't have the space.
Dizzle
They had to wait a while, but no way was I leaving the main three over at Dres. Bob was slowly driven insane by Bill and Jeb's rendition of the Song that Never Ends.
FlamedSteak
I'm working on getting Jeb and his crew back from Laythe. The lander I sent them in should've made it there and back but they wanted to do a fly by of Pol first and now they're stuck at their new base; Jebediah's Folly.....I'm in the middle of designing a rescue mission with butt loads of redundancy. Nothing worse than a rescue mission that strands more kerbs than it saves.
liweih
Well. I just send my mun base to the Mun with 13 kerbals......to test the possibility of interplanetary colonization.
Deadweasel
I had three kerbals stuck on the island runway.Spent an entire day developing a transport plane just to go get them.Hey, it was a challenge, okay?
badpandabear
From a poorly planned Mun mission I had Jeb stuck on the Mun's North Pole, and Bob and Bill stuck in very different elliptical orbits.I managed to get Jeb back despite loosing 4 of the 8 engines on my poorly designed Lander. Next it was time for Bob and Bill. I figured I had just enough for two plane change manuevers to reach them. I had the orbit aligned perfectly, a 1 km intercept, and then I realized...I was going the wrong way! Bob's orbit was retrograde relative to the rescue ship, and there was no way I could reverse my orbit to save Bob and then reverse my orbit again to save Bill . So I decided to save Bill. But don't worry Bob, we'll come back for you!
Brapness
This is actually one of my favourite pics I've taken. It's currently my desktop backgroundThat's Jeb. Eventually got him back. The first rescue (a two man lander piloted by one Kerbal) ended up stranded as well. An entirely remote third rescue mission got them both home. Thomas988
I once did an insane rescue mission on the Mun.I brought two guys (I think they were Jeb and Bob) to the surface of the Mun to land an unmanned rover. The landing was a success, and the rover was safely placed on the surface. We took off, but then a staging error split the lander in half. The lander, now without any sort of propulsion, had to be abandoned. I took the two guys into EVA and got them into orbit using their EVA fuel. I then had to launch another rescue vessel to rendezvous with them. It was a success, and everyone came home safe and sound.Maybe not the most wildest mission ever, but in my terms, it was hardcore. Commissioner Tadpole
Well, there's a reason I only make unmanned rockets until I can find a safe layout. Saves a lot of Kerbals. In other words, I have no Kerbals left behind, because they never left Kerbin in first place and are in the safety of the Astronaut Complex. The Spacemonkey
Back in 0.19.1 I got 3 of my Kerbals in a rocket and sent them over the border, on to another continent. They got stranded there, and at time of the game I was a HUGE noob. I tried making a rover to get them, but I didn't know to make one and I couldn't make a plane either. And to this day, they're still there. Sorry about not having pics, I didn't know to snapshot either. Edited November 30, 2013 by The Spacemonkey Grammar. larsmaehlum
What about that time I ran out of fuel with a Kerbin periapsis of ~500km? Does that count?Poor guy had to push it to get home, and I play with TAC Life Support, so he didn't have that much time
Biker Joe
My mission to the Mun was quite bad!First off I sent a lander to the Mun with 2 Kerbals in it, had a fairly rough landing and this was the result...So I sent them up a rover just to pass the time...Which eventually (after a 42km drive across the Munar surface) got to the 2 stranded Kerbals...I decided to bring them home and built a rescue craft with a lander can stuck on it and using 1 kerbal to fly it, could fit 3 I thought, happy days! but I was wrong, that lander can only fits 1, only realised my mistake AFTER I landed on the Mun! (*facepalm*)So I sent a bigger ship to the Mun to rescue everyone and bring them back but ran out of fuel getting back into Kerbin's SOI and was left in an elliptical orbit... so I sent up a transport craft to get the Kerbals and bring them home...I think it was all a bit much for Harcan piloting the Transport craft!I'll admit MechJeb came in very handy here and I used it to get relatively close to the ship with the Kerbals on it, and one by one they did an EVA to the Transport craft, took a while but I got them all home safely! larsmaehlum
That skycrane probe body combo on top of the rover is a really neat way of doing it. Kudos
Guest links123
My mission to mun was great. My spacecrafts were not working well but somehow they all become ok and mission was successful.
minimuffin
I had a mun lander in career that hit the ground a bit too hard and left only jeb. I quickly launched a new rocket, ignoring transfer windows and simply getting there as fast as I could to save Jeb. I do not think he was there for more than a week!
