Sundiving: Pretty anticlimactic

I thought, upon reaching the sun, that my craft would slowly start to heat up, weakening its structural integrity. I thought that as I approached, I would begin burning up, similar to an atmospheric reentry, only much, much brighter and hotter, to eventually see the spacecraft explode beautifully into a mass of burning probe parts.

So, as you can probably imagine, I was slightly annoyed when my probe, upon reaching the sun, simply went *poof* and vanished in a cloud of dust.

Does anyone know if this is a planned feature for the game? I know it's minor, but I think it would be a cool thing to add.

Sun heating would certainly make sense, along with re-entry heat damage and stuff like that. Currently, only engines can overheat, but I'm sure that these are things which Squad will improve in the future.

Getting destroyed by sun probably isn't triggered by the heat, but instead just a set altitude that makes you go poof.

Yep. That sums up every rocket I've ever tried to launch. [just kidding] Yeah, they should probably add some kind of "atmosphere" around the sun which your ship would burn up in and explode. But be patient. There are more important things to do, like Tech Tree development and Career Mode in general.
