Two small, potentially easy changes.

Recommended Posts

1. It would be quite nice to be able to see the center of mass and lift change as a function of fuel loss during the flight, to better be able to design planes.

2. I don't know if there is currently a way to modify/create actions groups post-launch, but that would be extremely helpful. I've been working on a "carrier" of sorts that brings two fighter space planes up to space, that can land and take off pretty much everywhere but Kerbin. But it has parachutes and jet/liquid e gines that I would really like action groups for (it is a spaceplane after all) and I would really like to modify those when I launch them from orbit.

For the first one, you can use the RCS build aid mod, as well as helping with RCS, it also adds a "dry CoM" so you can plan your planes easier. Helps you move stuff around to find a 'null position' where the CoM stays pretty constant..

second one, i am not aware of any mods for that.

One sneaky thing that can affect the way your planes handle is that the 'landing gear' is massless currently, but the editor assumes them to have 0.5T each. You can confirm this by launching two SRBs simultaneously, one with a landing gear on top, they should fly pretty much equal.

Ohh awesome. That is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

But yeah it's very frustrating getting into orbit and realizing i messed up an action group and just reverting.

Sometimes I mess up the staging too (and change that obviously) but I think action groups should be the same way. It would also be nice to be able to SAVE changes to action groups and staging so that next time you launch the same ship you don't have to change them again.

This is all just to hopefully minimize reverting, which takes WAY too long for those of us who can't let go of our beloved mods.

Edit: I also typically use B9 landing gear, I don't know if that changes the massless LG.
