Symetry Mode

Recommended Posts

I am not sure if it is the intention of the game or not, but manually clicking on components that have been symmetrically installed should be accessible in said way as well. For example.,User Installs two Thrusters on a component. He does not want those particular thrusters to burn. Currently you have to manually select each of the thrusters individually to toggle their settings. In my opinion it should be symmetrical as most symmetrical subsystems are keyed to a single action even (Turning on of off).

Yes, sometimes it would be nice to click on something placed symmetrically and have the action be executed by all parts. But some other times it's darn good if you can manipulate them one by one.

So IMO, both modes should be available.

In the meantime, you can use action groups to toggle part settings using symmetry. Be careful though that you need to reset it every time you detach the part from the ship in VAB/SPH.

Problem is you can't generalise that, a space station can have symetrical docking ring that you want to decouple individually, and if you have probes attached to a transfert bus you might not want/need to decouple them symetrically.

OR, even if you DO decouple them 2 by 2, you might have used a symetry of 6.

It may surprise some but sometime I did unbalanced my engines clusters to make an huge rocket rotate.
