Mod Challenge - Mercury Apollo Style

The challenge is to go to the Mun with the Mercury capsule from FASA Apollo style. Meaning you need a command ship and a separate lander.

The prize is your craft is included in my next FASA update.

Rules,

Stock AND FASA only.

No cheats of any kind.

You must use the mercury pod from FASA as your command pod.

You can only use one Kerbal.

The lander must be manned.

Single launch only.

Your must do it Apollo style with a separate command and lander ships.

You must return your Kerbal safely back to Kerbin.

I will narrow the list down to the top 5 and the community will vote on the winner, and I will include their craft file in my next update.

Any hints about what will be considered "better", or is it just must work + looks and popularity? I think high FASA proportion of parts is likely to be an advantage, otherwise the "included" makes little sense, right?

Any configuration, you must use the mercury pod as the command pod, and have a separate lander. All other details are up to you.

Also added single launch only. So no one puts up a Mercury refueling space station with 12 launches.

Im going to judge on ease of use and popularity. I am not going to give bonus points for all FASA builds if thats what you mean, but it is a mod challenge. So it would be silly if the Mercury capsule was the only FASA part on your ship. In the end its the community judging who the winner is....

I wasn't going to put a deadline on it but how about end of day Monday the 9th.

Not really interested in downloading a specific part just for the challenge. Least of all, requiring one from your own creation. Seems like you're not so subtly promoting your own mod. I have many landers capable of this, but I'm not going to redesign one just to fit your part

That's why its a mod challenge, and not a stock one, and I am hardly the first.

To what benefit would I have for promoting my own mod? I don't get a prize for the most downloads, or any compensation at all for that matter. I just thought it would be a fun challenge for people to try, and I have yet to see one like it yet.

Why would you feel it necessary to tell everyone why your not participating?

Do you have a disgust towards mods in general? Is it my mod specifically? Are the parts I have created not high enough quality for you? Will just looking at them force you to convulse uncontrollably, yacking all over your keyboard? Does FASA frighten you to such a degree that the mere thought of installing it make you leap out of your chair and hit your head on your ceiling fan?

Although I don't have a specific revulsion to mod parts (I just simply don't use them), I am a fan of anything NASA and curious where this thread is going. Subbed!

1. No special launch procedure, you might want to lock gimbals on the boosters but it's not necessary.

2. Use the Centraur Transtage to achive a low Mün orbit, Helena 6 started at 15 km but I raised it to 25 km and more than 50 is probably possible. (180 won't work.)

3. Decouple the Transtage. At this time you might want to fill up the lander's and command pod's monopropellant tanks.

4. EVA to the lander, decouple the lander.

5. Land and rendezvous.

6. EVA to command pod, return to Kerbin.

I have yet to try the Mercury capsule, but I remember wishing there was one, instead of just Gemini.
