inline stackable deployable solar panels

Recommended Posts

ok guys this is just a suggestion but should be simple enough

i am not asking for a stackable part that is basically a cylinder of solar panels but again stackable deployable solar panels so that i can have solar panels without using up surface space by radially attaching them.

just a suggestion

i expect it to look some what like two Z-1K batteries stacked on top each other and a lid on both sides that open and deploy 2 different solar panels

sorry for my bad grammar

Try these... from a welded station parts mod (plugin only so it'll work) that I forgot where I got.

I think putting them in Squad/parts/electric will work? I have them in squad/parts/stationparts

ps. there's way more to this mod than just that.

Edit: found it http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/56827-Station-Parts-Project-stock-welds-by-the-DoPToOT

Personally, I'd prefer shielded solar panels to work much like the deployable ladders or the new 88-88 dish, which are actually inside the part they're attached to.

This would not necessarily add new parts, and could work with other things, like lights, landing legs or linear RCS ports (to be more like "holes" in the structure)...

There are inline batteries. Put one in your ship where you would put that inline solar panel, and then stick deployable solar panels to its surface. The result is about the same and you get battery capacity on top.

i am not asking for panels on a battery but a inline deployable solar panel that is cased

i know the last post was a few weeks ago

the solar panel would deploy out from inside the inline casing which doesn't double as a battery. So basically it is a solar panel that is stackable instead of being radially mounted, will help when the surfaces of craft become crowded from lots of radial attachments, and will not look out of place when attached onto a space plane (depending on size)

But you need to keep part of the surface free so these panels have where to deploy. That's the same as filling this space by current deployable solar batteries. That inline segment just slightly enlarges the surface of your ship and you get the same result by putting any inline segment in that place. Batteries are relatively thin, that's why I suggested them.
