Launch from EVE

So I have a bit of trouble deciding should I send a rescue mission or try launching again?

I've landed on EVE at 1.5km altitude and it's not movable.

The best I was capable to do with takeoff was about App-95km speed-2600km/s. Not so much missing but I'm not finding where more to improve.

Maybe some good takeoff hints could help to add missing dV?

You could try another launcher at higher altitudes, such as a mountain. That will save you some delta v..

And you could send a rover to drive them there.

You're about 600 m/s short, so I'm not sure better flying will save you.

That said, you want to stay vertical until much higher than on Kerbin. 25km on Eve has the same air pressure at 10km on Kerbin, so you'll probably want to be vertical at least that high. You want to always be staying around the local terminal velocity (note for your next ship -- if you can exceed terminal velocity, that means you have too much thrust). Then you pitch over, and thenceforth follow a gravity turn. The atmosphere stops just before 97km, so make that your apoapsis.

Having taken off from Eve sea level -

I had to add SRBs. I could literally fire the rocket at full throttle all day and it never took off. Four SRBs got it moving. I'm sure you could achieve the same with liquid fuel engines, but it all equates to "more thrust".

IIRC, a jet pack has 500m/s dv in it. So if you can just bridge that 100m/s gap, you should be able to make orbit and pick him up with another ship.

Write down every attempt, and figure it out which give you the most juice...

KM means KM in altitude for gravity turn.

Turn means how many degree it turn to.

Stop means AP reach 90km and stop engines for sailing.

Velo means Velocity of sailing speed in m/s

F_left means fuel left while sailing.

End_Velo means at the end, you empty your fuel, and get the m/s.

I think you can make it...just EVA and jet pack...

Problem with EVA is that I have 4 kerbonauts.

Interesting thing that I've just installed FAR mod for some other tests. Just checked on my Eva ship and it seems it launched without issues even leaving about 700m/s dV extra. Will have to repeat the quest some day again without the mods.
