Do any of you guys know any way to speed up kerbal space program to make it run faster? I have a 9 gig computer and I get about 10FPS when looking at planets like kerbin, and I would greatly appreciate if any of you had some suggestions! Thanks :)

RAM only helps so much with KSP since it's a 32-bit application. It can only use 4GB of it, after all. The largest bottlenecks at this point are processor (PhysX does not play nice with AMD chipsets), graphics card (ditto), and how many mods you have installed. Optimizations are reported being implemented into the game for 0.23, so there should be less problems with severe lag once that's out.

Does it? A flight in procces is nothing but a point moving along on rails. All the parameters of those rails only take up a few lines

Put a few hundred pieces of debris into orbit and see what happens ;-)

@OP

The rest of the specs for your computer would be good to know as well. KSP isnt the most graphically demanding game about. its all on the processor currently. More gigahertz=more fps :D

Is your OS optimized? Try something like "game booster 3.4" (Google it) It gets good reviews. It basically kills all non-essential processes to free up resources for game play.

Disclaimer: I have not tried it. It seemed a better suggestion then going through a manual process. I do it manually but that is my thing.

Check your task manager. When I boot up Windows only uses 550mb and only has 29 processes running. I also like to set the KSP.exe priority to high. If I am recording I set bandicams affinity to use only the last hyper-threaded cores.

At the moment my PC only has 3GB of memory so only essential processes are allowed to run. I am not going to be printing when I am playing; print spooler off. All the bells and whistles; off. I even go so far as to remove the internet connection from my PC and run with out AV and firewall. Not recommended I know but I like to live dangerously. Be sure you know what you are doing if you go this nuts. :cool:

Anyways If someone does try Game Booster let us know how it goes!
