NQMT
Hello everyone!I've decided to resurrect my old Formula K championship, however this time there is only one category: STOCK.Most tracks are CLOCKWISE. If they aren't, it'll say in the post. There are only a few rules now, instead of a huge list. Most important rule: START FROM A STANDING START!1. NO CONTROL SURFACES. Downwards facing wings are allowed (a maximum of four individual wings), but control surfaces and moving wings (AV-R8 etc) are strictly banned. Wings generating positive lift are banned. The car must NOT have the ability to fly.2. Vehicle must be driven by a Kerbal in an EAS-1 Command Seat.3. In the event of an accident, the driver must be safe from injury.4. If you want extra power, I will allow 2 RCS Ports. They must both face rearwards. You may only use one of these tanks.[/url5. You may only drive in Docking Mode.6. No SAS is allowed.7. Maximum of four RoveMax M1 wheels permitted. No more, and only the M1 model is permitted.8. Must have this plugin to show your lap route.I will post the first track in three days. This gives people time to develop cars, and also point out any misunderstandings or things I've missed. There will be ten tracks, and points will be awarded to the five fastest times. At the end of Race 10 a winner will be announced. To time the lap:1. Start mission timer2. Line up at Start/Finish line.3. Wait until MET hits a set time, preferably at the start of a set minute.4. Screenshot, GO GO GO!5. Finish lap, screenshot.Get building, everyone!Note: If anyone wants their name on a race (i.e. Kyrian Grand Prix) just PM me and I'll have it done.RACES:Race 1 - NeoX Grand PrixPoints system:1st: 10pts2nd: 5pts3rd: 3pts4th: 2pts5th: 1pt6-10th: No points.LEADERBOARD:1st:2nd:3rd:4th:5th:6th:7th:8th:9th:10th: Edited December 24, 2013 by Kyrian

Sirine
1. NO CONTROL SURFACES. Wings are allowed, but control surfaces are strictly banned. Why don't just no-wings at all?
NQMT
Because downforce does help, it's just that control surfaces can be tweaked while driving with alt + W, A, S, D
Sirine
Because downforce does help, it's just that control surfaces can be tweaked while driving with alt + W, A, S, DUnlimited RCS Gas will spoiled the fun. And I don't like wings, With RCS Gas + Wings, I can make the car fly.
DisarmingBaton5
Sirine, think along these lines. The RCS is to emulate KERS (now ERS) rather than an engine itself.EDIT: Kyrian, when you say "no control surfaces," does that include winglets like the AV-R8 and standard canard? Sirine
Sirine, think along these lines. The RCS is to emulate KERS (now ERS) rather than an engine itself.Okay....I can use KERS (now ERS) with wings to make my car fly. :-)Remote all control surface...and it still fly...Think that, if I compact all at wings in to a small area to create lift force, or down force in this case, and with KERS/ERS, it will be same as previous Formula-K, Car running at over 80m/s.Why don't we just allow of using [seperaton I]x2 (Max.2 only), for boosting speed? And no-wings allow at all?http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50619-Flying-Duna-AGAIN?p=791825&viewfull=1#post791825 Edited December 12, 2013 by Sirine

NQMT
How about I make a maximum of four (individual) downforce wings and maximum 1 tank? Also, DisarmingBaton5 - If it moves, it's banned. (except the wheels)
DisarmingBaton5
I like the idea of multiple tanks; it means variation (mass:fuel). Flying with multiple tanks seems more difficult than flying with one. Furthermore, limiting to 1 tank doesn't restrict much because tank capacity ranges from 10-750. You may instead want to regulate the angle of wings or ban flying altogether.
NQMT
Flying IS banned. The wings must face downwards (if used). These are mainly there to produce downforce, improving cornering speed.Do remember, this is a ROVER race, not an air race. norup
I might join. After all, one of my all-time favourite games was Grand Prix Legends, although I was never really good at it.Some pedantic questions:What is a "small RCS tank". Would it not be better to state a maximum capacity?"The car must NOT leave the ground". So jumping over a bump will mean DQ?Can we adapt the car to each race? NQMT
You are able to change the angles of the front and rear wings for different races. No major changes are permitted.
DisarmingBaton5
What is a "small RCS tank". Would it not be better to state a maximum capacity?^This. Right now I am using one 50 unit tank, is that permitted or is a downsize to 40 units necessary?
Astraph
I personally use the spherical tank - small is small after all, and I think that the "challenge" should be as hard as possible Anyway, my car is ready!

Astraph
OK guys. I have my car ready, set at start line, with track displayed... But I can't make the MET run. It just stays 0:00:00 all the time, regardless of my car's movement. When I leave seat (thus going on EVA) the MET starts, but reverts to 0:00:00 once I return to the seat. Any help? NQMT
All you need is to get all wheels off the ground. The timer will start, and you're on your way!

GROOV3ST3R
Kyrian! With the advent of 0.23, control surfaces can be disabled with tweakables! I think it might be a good idea to have each and every craft disable wings during construction on all 3 axes. Also, FAR would be a good thing to have as it would model aerodynamics more closely to reality, rendering vehicles like my old BOXX CART useless and forcing racers to put more thought into their designs.Just a thought. I mean FAR is like 500kb, you could ask the creator if you can post it with a Required Mods pack for the championship. You will need the tracing plugin in there, as well as track files might be a good idea.I could do that for you if you want - it's simple enough to GitHub it ^^
NQMT
Good idea. If you could work on that, it'd be great!
GROOV3ST3R
If everything goes according to plan, we will overhaul the rules slightly, allowing for a more realistic and ''challenging'' challenge ^^ Until then, watch this space.
NQMT
A challenging challenge sounds better than an unchallenging challenge. I say bring it on!
