Are there any mods for landmasses floating in the air?

Don't know the answer to your question, but your examples are reminiscent of some levels in Unreal (Gold). They are Gateway to Na Pali and Na Pali Haven.

I dont know if there are any, but i know what you mean. Landing on floating islands would be pretty challenging and fun.

I think Roger Dean may have beaten those guys by several years. He was painting his floating landmasses back in the 70's. In fact he has filed a lawsuit against Cameron and Avatar for breach of copyright, so alike are the scenes in the film to some of his paintings.
