Ed Lu is a BOSS!

He has worked for NASA and Google and he is still going working on awesome projects! He is currently working on a program to Defend the Earth from rogue asteroids!

I hope the Kon helped give a lot of support to his B612 foundation cause having him on was a highlight of yesterdays stream for me. So cool that Manley helped set it up.

Ok a few things. I think there needs to be both Ed Lu and Chris Hadfield Kerbals added to the stock game. As they are my two hero astronauts right now.

Ed Lu asked for asteroids to be added to KSP! Listen to him, i know they said asteroids would not be part of "Feature Complete". But it would still be AWESOME.

Make sure Ed is on again next year!!

Chris Hadfield did do some cool stuff, but I don't understand why he is a hero, Ed Lu is doing a good job, but until

they actually launch the Sentinel or track an asteroid, he is not a hero.

Elon Musk founded and co-founded so many companies and started the private space launch class, and he has actually done something, he deserves respect.

But everyone has their own hero, in one way or another, because we are all unique and different in our ways and perception of the world....

I feel like Hadfield did a lot to increase awareness of the existing space programs and technologies while he was on the ISS. I for one watched all of his videos I could find while he was making them up there.

At the same time Ed Lu is helping construct a private deep space probe that is designed to protect the planet! If they can get it launched the Sentinel program may provide invaluable data even if it doesn't "save the planet" in our lifetime.

Oh my Dan.......

Chris Hadfield is definitely a hero in my book. While astronauts posted videos before him on the ISS it was not like what Chris did. When Chris was up their he took a lot of his free time showing us a bunch of cool things. There are so many videos to watch. He also took some really good pictures everyday. All this was done in his free time, He was not required to do any of this. I think his videos put out so much awareness to what the ISS was doing it actually saved some programs. He was also the first person from Canada that was commander of the ISS. Its not really that far of a stretch to call a man like that a hero.

As for the Ed Lu not being a hero until he launches the satellite... thats funny to me. He is literally one of the only persons even talking about this. Not only is he bringing awareness to the cause but he hired the best team in the world in order to get it done. In my book, if Ed Lu died tomorrow, he would still be a hero.

That being said ive been following Elon Musk for a while and he is number one on my list of people id love to meet. He is just so awesome. He is definitely a hero too, but nobody said the world cannot have more then one hero. Its funny becuase i was just talking about how bad ass Elon is to my sister. SHe didnt even know who he was! Some people.... Some people....

There are things that are important, and at the very top of the list is the continued survival of the human race. Preventing a killer asteroid is part of that. So is colonizing other planets and other solar systems. I will gladly salute anyone who is working towards those goals, and Ed Lu is one of those people. He'll have my eternal gratitude once the program is up and running. In the meantime, he has my deep respect just for trying, and just for talking about it as much as he can. We should have been doing this decades ago, and I'm glad he and his colleagues are on the case. It sounds like they've got a tremendous team with serious skills and knowledge. I'm confident in their success, and the project has my full support.

I agree with many others that his stream during KerbalKon was a major highlight, and I hope his talk resulted in a lot of donations. I don't care what anyone says, a real astronaut came and talked with us live, and that's a big deal. That's a very brave and incredibly talented man, who could have done anything with his life, but he's chosen to do something very important and selfless, to literally save the planet, and we should be honored that he took the time to talk to us.

Only some 3% of the world know about Wd Lu sadly since he hasn't made any headlines.

I don't judge average people for not knowing who Elon Musk or Wernher Von Braun is, but there was one occasion when I was disappointed how primitive most people are.

When Steve Jobs died, I wasnt even a teen then I think and my generation knew about him of course, and only some 4 teachers in the whole school knew who Steve Jobs was. I was so mad and disappointed with those "teachers" it just gave me a headache about how clouded people's minds can be.

Steve's death actually inspired me to read his autobiography, which was very inspiring and I learnt more about Steve and people that surrounded him, about Apple and so on...

My heroes are Steve Jobs, Elon Musk in a way because he is so young but has achieved great success and I think John Young(Apollo 16 and STS-1)

I actually don't respect Bill Gates that much despite being a programmer because Bill shows off his money with huge houses and stuff unlike Steve, who bought a medium sized house( some 3-4 levels). Also Bill tries to prevent 11 million child deaths, which in my opinion is a bad idea since he will only make them suffer and create more hungry mouths.

Ed Lu has flown every US & Russian Spacecraft in the last 2 decades - The Shuttle, Soyuz, Mir & The ISS, he's also performed EVA's in US and Soviet suits. The only thing he hasn't flown on is the Chinese hardware, but I suspect that since he knows chinese he could probably handle it just fine :)

Of course none of these spacecraft were flown by keyboards, which explains his problems with KSP.

That requires a massive amount of skill. It shows how amazing he truly is.
