How To Make Dragon-Style Pod (Pics Suggested)

Hello guys, I have a question today. I want to make a dragon pod with fuels and engines and legs all hidden inside, but I can't get one to work. Did you guys make something like this before, if so how!?

What I Want:

I really need something like this for a Duna base, and I would appreciate your help. I use mods but I don't want to download the SpaceX mod.

I just threw one together. It doesn't hold too much fuel, but it works.

Parachute:

Fuel:

Fuel lines and thrusters:

The fuel lines feed from those structural parts into the capsule itself, and then from the capsule to each thruster. Hope this helps.

Thank you! This is waht I needed to figure out how to do it! Also I needed fuel lines! I was trying to cram everything in the pod, but then the fuel would get stuck in places and it wouldn't work.

oosime, do you find that by clipping things into the SAS module like that is weakens the link between the module and what its attached to? I used to use that method you demonstrated, but things seem wobbly.. maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Two different mods were made based on this: Laztek's and the Dragon Rider. The first is part of the SpaceX pack and doesn't seem to be updated much since 0.21. The second is currently on the backburner (still flies in 0.22) as the author, Cardboardboxprocessor, is also working on the Kosmos parts pack and other projects.
