Need help on random part movement

Recommended Posts

So after all i've manages to build a working space shuttleish thing that can get into orbit and back. But every time i try to land it, the thing just explodes leaving nothing but the cockpit alive! I thought it was because i came in to steep, but even at a vertical speed of just -1m/s the thing just obliterates. Is it because my landing gear is attached to my wings or is -1m/s just to fast?

Second problem is mentioned as seventh post.

50m/s horizontal should be trouble-free. -1m/s vertical is excellent.

What is your nose angle like? Usually 5–10º nose up is a good idea, so that rear wheels touch down first, followed by nose wheel shortly afterwards.

Are your brakes off? I've seen tutorials wrongly say to turn the brakes on before landing, which is frankly nuts if KSP's physics are remotely close to reality on what would happen touching down with essentially locked wheels.

And, daft question, but are you sure the gear is actually down?

Lastly, are you missing the stupid too-big and badly positioned lights at the corners of the runway?

Horizontal speed was about 40-50 m/s

40-50 m/s HS and -1 m/s VS are good landing parameters...

Your shuttle should handle this without problem.

Do you use part clipping?

Are there parts that are "touching" when you land? (for example landing gears making the wings flex and colliding parts that were fine until touchdown)

A screenshot might help, indeed... :D

Now that I fixed the landing gear a whole new problem appeared, and it's a looooot worse! I docked my shuttle to my station and suddenly... My cockpit is in a 90 degree angle to my hull! It can't move anymore and a few moments ago it just exploded randomly into a giant kessler bomb around my space station. I'd say we found a bug

Any Octagonal or Cubic Octagonal struts in the shuttle or the station, particularly between the docking port and the root. If so it is a known bug. IIRC something was said about it being fixed in .23

Yeah the cockpit was attached using a cubic octagonal strut. Thank you, i now know it's not just me
