updating to 0.23

Now this might be a stupid question but, with 0.23 coming out soon..... how is the best way to upgrade? so I can keep my current settings, saves, ships and add ons? until now I have just downloaded and re-installed the game but there must be another way. Any advise and K.I.S.S

make a copy of your Gamedata folder, then when you upgrade copy and paste (That will have everything unless you also have a folder labelled parts, then you want to copy that too)

If I want to start stock again and slowly add my mods one by one, do I have to download the entire thing, or can I simply use the patcher? (I have mods that mess with the squad folder).

I wonder, is this update going to use the patcher or be a full download? The patcher seems to work quite well now, but I'm not sure if it could handle the load.

It will auto update, but I do not believe it will overwrite anything.

@Dragon01 I'm almost certain this is going to be a full download.

@astropapi1 If you want to start stock and slowly add mods what I would do is write down the mods you have installed, delete everything, then do a fresh KSP install (Be sure to back up any ships you might want later)

Steam only changes the files that have been updated. Things like saves, or craft files won't be affected.

That said, you should still make backups of your save folder (which contains both save files and craft files) before every update. If you are really concerned you can backup the entire KSP folder.
